How to Manually Reset TPMS

Your TPMS light is one of the least severe warning lights that can come up on your vehicles dashboard. However, this does not mean you should ignore it! If one or more of your tires are underinflated, you run the risks of:

  • unpredictable vehicle handling

  • decreased tire lifespan

  • decreased overall safety on the road (underinflated tires make for sidewall damage that can lead to blowouts)

Even after you add the proper amount of air to your once underinflated tire(s), you will need to reset the TPMS so the dashboard light will turn off. The steps you can take to reset this light are as follows:

  • Drive your vehicle at ~50 mph for around 10 minutes

  • While the vehicle is off, turn the key to the “On” position. Then you must locate your TPMS reset button, (this button is located in different places depending on your vehicles make) press & hold it until the light blinks three times. Then start your vehicle and let it run for about 20 minutes to reset the sensor. If you are having trouble locating your reset button, your owners manual will provide it’s exact location.
